We're looking for a personable, highly organised Volunteer Co-ordinator to source, support, induct and mentor a network of volunteers at our innovative new service in Leicestershire.
Richmond Fellowship is one of the largest voluntary sector providers of mental health services in England, with a turnover of £45m. We’re working towards a society that values everyone with mental health problems and are looking for a like-minded individual to fill this key role.
Working in partnership with The Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, we’re about to offer a new and important service to people in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Our new short-term stay unit, 24/7 telephone helpline and face-to-face drop-in support will help people with transient mental health problems to find their way out of crisis quickly, simply and without the need to go into hospital.
As Volunteer Co-ordinator you’ll be responsible for the success and smooth-running of the service's volunteering programme, offering invaluable support to our clients. More specifically you'll:
- Ensure volunteers receive inductions, training and personal development opportunities
- Participate in staff and service user meetings
- Regularly evaluate the impact of the peer support
- Operate the volunteer support service within agreed budget parameters and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, as well as our lone working and equal opportunities policies
- Provide progress reports for internal and external stakeholders, as required.
To succeed, you’ll have experience in the mental health field, the ability to work effectively as part of a team, a flexible attitude to work, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. In addition, you'll need:
- Strong IT skills
- The ability to establish productive working relationships at all levels
- Knowledge of the recovery and personalisation agenda, and of the principles and practice on which mental health services are run
- The ability to prioritise and plan work
- Impressive problem solving and decision making skills.
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes are also essential.
Managing more than 120 services nationwide, Richmond Fellowship provides a diverse range of services to people with mental health needs.
We offer great employee benefits, including 25 days' holiday per year, a contributory pension scheme, employee assistance programme and childcare vouchers.
