IT Techs, as part of the wider BDUK IT team, are responsible for providing hands-on desktop tech support to a varied community of users; this role is primarily based at Gosport but with the remit of providing support to various locations as required by the business.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for delivering IT Operations and technical support to a wide range of users at all levels. Equally comfortable , confident and professional whether on the end of a phone or 'hands-on' at a desk, you will be the sort of individual that takes pride in providing a first-rate service and genuinely enjoys solving IT issues for colleagues at all levels.

As empowered by the BDUK IT Service Operations Manager the IT Tech provides desktop support to users in order to:

•Ensure all processes and procedures in the area of responsibility are appropriately followed and that documentation is maintained correctly.
•Work collaboratively with other IT Techs, other functional leads, subject matter experts and stakeholders to ensure meaningfully consistent and effective execution of IT technical support.
•Take part in cross-functional (beyond BDUK IT Operations) IT technical support and delivery activities as required.
•As part of the BDUK IT team provide input to IT technician forums, off-sites, training and coaching activities.
•Act as incident analyst for incidents assigned to the region by the UK IT Service Desk.
•Make full use of appropriate collaboration tools (e.g. SharePoint, checklists, templates, process maps, repositories) to enhance the effectiveness of the IT technician community.
•Provide input to the resolution of complex service outages/ degradation or high profile projects (e.g. migrations, air-shows).
•Support colleagues from the BDUK IT Service Design & Implementation function in the smooth transition of new services/ improved functionality to IT Service Operations.
•Utilise reach back support from internal BDUK IT teams, international IT teams and to Enterprise IT functions (e.g. IT Product Towers, IT Infrastructure or Information Security) and partner providers (e.g. SITA) to leverage maximum benefit for the business.
•Contribute to BDUK IT projects as required and as coordinated by the assigned project manager.

The IT Tech reports to the BDUK IT Tech Lead for the site and the BDUK IT Service Operations Manager. Some business travel is expected to other BDUK sites as driven by business needs. This role also requires flexibility as off-hours support will occasionally be required to support service restoration; this will be allocated equitably via an on-call roster.

Boeing Defence UK Limited (BDUK) was formed approximately 6 years ago to synthesize the various activities of Boeing in the UK within the defence sector under a single business entity. As part of this integration process, a small, but rapidly growing dedicated IT capability is being developed within the UK that can draw upon the considerable IT resources of the worldwide Boeing Company to deliver complex solutions to the business and its clients. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A., Boeing employs more than 170,000 people in more than 70 countries: Boeing is the number one U.S. exporter in terms of sales.
