Justot is recruiting for an occupational therapist to work in a specialist service for Autism patients. The home is an established, specialist Autism service situated in a stunning and peaceful setting in, North Ayrshire. Fully accredited by the National Autistic Society, the service provides dedicated care and support for adults with autistic spectrum conditions including Asperger's Syndrome in a residential setting. Emphasis is placed on therapeutic activities, skills development and communication strategies. The service also provides high quality respite care on a planned basis with a specific staff team.
You will be working alongside dedicated, highly-experienced multi-disciplinary team comprise of; consultant psychologists and psychiatrists, qualified nursing staff, social workers and therapists.
Job Purpose
*Required to structure a programme of meaningful activities for clients who have a learning disability and mental illness or may have autistic traits and challenging behaviour.
*Oversee and supervise a trainee O.T. Assistant to provide the agreed activities.
*Encourage independence and personal choice and help to provide an environment which is conducive to patients with varied and complex needs realizing their potential to live as independently as they can find possible
*Ensure that you provide evidence-based practice and are outcome focussed
*Communicate and liaise effectively within the multi-disciplinary team
*Continually strive for clinical excellence whilst retaining integrity and technical skill and competence.
Job Requirements
In order to achieve this Occupational Therapists should have:
*Hold a recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
*Excellent organisation and communication skills.
*Initiative and creativity.
*Therapists must hold a current registration with the HCPC and have a legal right to work in the UK.
*Your role will be pivotal within this dynamic team
