Our Client, a growing International Bank, is looking for an ambitious Vice President to cover North England, Scotland & Ireland.

The Role:

Mid-level banking professional with several years experience with credit and banking - ideally in business development in the technology sector in the North of England. Demonstrated ability to operate independently and build new business relationships and win clients.

Develops a network in the Northern, Scottish and Irish tech community and referral sources. Works independently to represent the Bank to C-level executives and finance teams at early to late-stage tech companies and Venture Capital and Private Equity funds. Represents the Bank by attending tech events and ecosystem activities.

This is a business development role focused on technology companies. Responsibilities will include originating banking and depository relationships and secured credit facilities. This role manages prospect relationships and sells the Bank's products and services, and liaises with product advisors and credit officers to help bring the prospect in as a client. Liaison with credit will include both pitching credit opportunities as standalone facilities from the Bank, as well as bringing in external debt partners. Individuals will call on prospects and referral sources to build or expand relationships and maintain relations with CEOs as they become clients to add value through Bank connections (eg to corporates and funds). There will also be a requirement to call upon deal sources and VC funds who are engaged with technology companies. The role requires a general understanding of term sheets, selling banking services and credit agreements. The role will include working with the credit, portfolio and client service teams who will help manage the day-to-day client relationship and assist in debt structuring.

The role will include:

  1. Being an ambassador for the Bank in the Northern England, Scottish and Irish market
  2. Attending conferences and events to connect with potential prospects (and clients)
  3. Represent the Bank on panels and address media opportunities and discuss the Bank's Thought Leadership pieces
  4. Working in the market with entrepreneurs, investors, other professionals and government/trade body representatives
  5. Partner with the US team on trade missions, investor delegations etc which overlap our geographic business units
  6. Helping to maintain a database of target prospects
  7. Working with the UK Marketing team to develop a Northern and Irish event and sponsorship strategy to support business development
  8. Where new lending opportunities are identified, work alongside the portfolio team to propose a solution
  9. Partner with the Relationship Adviser team to onboard the new clients
  10. Work with the Portfolio team in supporting businesses once they become clients
  11. Provide training and leadership to less experienced staff and office.

The candidate will be highly professional with knowledge and experience of growth technology companies and the venture capital community. Knowledge of the typical credit facility structures, is required, and learning the Bank's credit appetite is essential.

Will need to work both independently and as part of a team.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education.
  • Ability to work independently in completing assigned duties.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly gain a thorough knowledge of bank operations and products.
  • Interest in the technology sector and venture capital/private equity transactions.
