Our drive to make GCHQ as effective as possible means we have two exciting engineering roles available, based at the heart of our organisation.
Your role
GCHQ works to keep Britain safe and secure in the face of wide-ranging threats from cyberspace and emerging technologies. We're recruiting Engineers and Senior Engineers to join our Engineering Processes and Assurance team within the Security Mission area of GCHQ. Combining both theoretical and practical research, you'll play a key role in investigating how Information Assurance can be integrated into commonly used design processes and methods. You'll be tasked with using this research for in-depth customer scoping, as well as providing guidance, consultancy and advice to internal and external customers. As an Engineer you'll work under supervision on a variety of increasingly complex work packages. Senior Engineers will be responsible for leading and delivering individual work packages, supervising team members and contributing to strategy discussions. Both roles offer you a 1-year training programme and the career progression to become information assurance specialists.
What you'll need
We're keen to hear from people with a range of technical backgrounds and a desire to apply your Information Assurance or security engineering knowledge in a research-based environment. You'll need an engineering, maths or physics degree, or equivalent career-level experience with a proven track record in research, systems engineering or architecture engineering. Motivated by the work of Security and Intelligence Agencies, you'll relish learning new technical and non-technical skills. Highly innovative and creative you'll be also be good with people and great in a team; your analytical, reasoning and communication skills will be excellent.
Senior Engineers will be expected to be self-starters with deeper knowledge of specialist areas.
