A unique and exciting opportunity for a Maths Co-Ordinator starting immediately has opened up at a mixed needs community special secondary school in London. Whilst the position is temporary, it has the possibility of becoming permanent.
The role of Maths Co-Coordinator is crucial if the school is to improve the rate of progress among students in the subject area .This will be a hugely rewarding role for any teacher who enjoys driving improvement and is passionate about teaching students with special educational needs.
The school has approximately 100 mixed gender students aged 11-19 years. Each student has a statement of Special Educational Needs and the school offers a full range of national curriculum subjects with an emphasis on developing skills in literacy, numeracy, personal and social development. In addition to this there are specialised staff supporting speech and language for pupils and the school offers personalised programmes of study specifically aimed at meeting each individuals learning needs.
The school was awarded an Ofsted grade 2 "Good" rating in February 2013 across all areas. A new head teacher was appointed in 2010 and is determined for the school to be successful. The governors make a very strong contribution to the success of the school by their active support of the school leaders and their very good understanding of where improvement is required. The report recognised pupils' rate of progress in maths is an area for improvement.
The area has excellent transport links, with 5 train stations in the vicinity. The closest airport is London City which is less than half an hour drive away. Teachers applying for this position could stay in any preferred area in London and travel to work daily.
