The UK's tax authority, HM Revenue & Customs, is changing. The Government has invested almost GBP1 billion in Enforcement & Compliance activity, with the aim of collecting GBP22 billion a year in additional tax revenue by the end of the current tax year. With expanding amounts of data, and improvements in data processing, it's a very exciting time for us, and could be for you too.

As one of our Data Analysts, you'll be gathering information from within and outside the UK, analysing it and helping us focus on those people who deliberately target the tax system through fraud, evasion and avoidance. You'll expand the boundaries of what can be achieved, and play a pivotal role by predicting patterns of behaviour, prioritising risks to the tax system, identifying cases for interventions, and helping us understand emerging trends.

Together with a 2:2 in a numerate degree, or a numerate post-graduate qualification, you'll have experience of using software to analyse data, either at work or while you were studying. You'll certainly be proficient in using Excel to merge, analyse and consolidate data using pivot tables, functions and charts. You will use SAS Enterprise Guide and our award winning Connect system to develop new approaches to protect UK revenue. You should be keen to learn new tools and use large datasets including a range of taxpayer, government, public and commercially available data.

In return, you can look forward to the opportunity to develop through a tailored specialist professional programme of training. We believe in valuing you and recognising your performance. We also offer attractive pension arrangements and promote a healthy work life balance, including flexible working.
