As the hands-on leader of a large Information & Technology team, you'll help shape strategy, change and quality in information systems and communications. What's more, you'll be doing it in a very unique environment. At the Rural Payments Agency, there's a lot more going on than you might realise. We pay farmers, traders and land owners over GBP2 billion each year to support a thriving farming and food sector. We also manage over 40 schemes to help ensure our rural economy and communities are healthy and strong. From carrying out thousands of inspections and checks to managing milk quotas and cattle tracing, we're one of the few places in the country where you can get involved in work like this. With overall management responsibility for a team of 22 people, including six direct reports, you will lead on information systems architecture, data quality, policy and standards, and assurance. You will advise and assist the Information & Technology Director in developing and implementing our Information Systems and Communications strategy, and work closely with suppliers, Service Management and our Design & Change directorate. From informing change proposals and helping develop new products, through to mitigating risks and developing an architectural view of 'ideal future' information systems, you'll create a lasting, positive legacy. To be equal to the challenge, you'll need TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) qualifications, or other equivalent credentials which are relevant to information systems architecture development and assurance. Comfortable working in a business change environment, you have proven experience of developing information systems strategies and associated data, applications and technology architectures. Knowledge of programme and project management tools, techniques and methodologies is also essential. A talented leader and communicator, your ability to make strong decisions and deliver results in a fast paced environment is underpinned by a commitment to understanding the big picture. In return for your dedication, you'll enjoy lots of opportunities to train and develop. You'll also be in line for some great civil service benefits, including a pension.
