Senior Developer - Configured Applications Development & Support

Lead developer, project manager, difference maker - you'll be all those things and more in a unique organisation that's always changing and improving, in all kinds of ways. At the Rural Payments Agency, there's a lot more going on than you might realise. We pay farmers, traders and land owners over GBP2 billion each year to support a thriving farming and food sector. We also manage over 40 schemes to help ensure our rural economy and communities are healthy and strong. From carrying out thousands of inspections and checks to managing milk quotas and cattle tracing, we're one of the few places in the country where you can get involved in work like this. A key member of our internal development function, you'll drive development and support for configured applications using a range of COTS packages. They'll include MS Dynamics CRM, MS SharePoint, MS BizTalk and Visionware Multivue. We'll look to you to manage small development projects, design applications and databases, develop applications, test systems and resolve reported problems. It's a role that will stretch every aspect of your development and project management skills. Used to developing small scale IT applications using Agile methods, you enjoy working collaboratively to define business needs, create and approve design specifications. In-depth experience in the configuration and support of the COTS application packages listed above is essential. We'll also expect you to have experience of using scripting languages such as VBA and JavaScript, as well as a facility for HTML and CSS. What's more, your track record in both logical and physical database design spans the use of SQL and the administration of SQL Server.
