Senior IT Security Technician

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a Senior IT Security Technician to join our IT security team based in Wilmslow. You will play a key role in implementing the security improvement programme across Royal London.

Your primary responsibility will be to maintain the current user administration, security infrastructure and policies whilst initiating improvements through the research and implementation of industry specific technologies and standards. As an expert in the security field you will be responsible for implementations and the ongoing operation of new security tools, in addition to managing the day-to-day operation of systems and security applications. You will also take ownership of developing the systems security awareness within the group, by reviewing and analysing security reports to drive investigations and improvements.

We are looking for a security technician with a broad experience of security, who possesses relevant security qualifications such as ISC2/CISM/ISEB (or equivalent) and working knowledge of security tools such as Sourcefire, Splunk and Nessus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • IPS and SIEM, deployment, operation and development
  • Websense Administration (Data loss prevention/Email/Web Proxy)
  • Reviewing and analysing security reports, from multiple tools
  • Understand IT and Information security techniques and methodologies
  • Producing technical documentation for internal reference
  • Reviews security techniques and technologies regularly to remain aware or best practice
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures
  • Ensure the operation of technical systems is consistent with policies and procedures
  • Contribute to the development of SLA's in agreement with supervisor and business

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Security Qualifications preferred eg ISEB/CISSP/CISM/ISC2 or equivalent
  • Previous experience of working within a regulated environment in the financial services industry
  • Full understanding of the project life cycle and process/procedure design
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of tools such as Sourcefire, Splunk, and Nessus
  • Experience in IPS, Remote Access Controls and Network Security
  • Security practices within a financial service provider
  • Experience with audit event collection and reporting toolsets
  • Have a good understanding and support background in managing and maintaining major security systems such as SIEM, Vulnerability Scanning, IPS, and Websense, technologies
