Behaviour Support Workers

The Job

We are currently seeking applications for Behaviour Support roles to work with students at KS3 & KS4 to support engagement in learning and positive management of challenging behaviour. Suitable candidates will have experience of working with children and young people with challenging behaviour on a 1:1 or small group basis in either a care or education setting and should be comfortable working as part of a team. Team Teach training is desirable but not essential as this can be provided.

The School

The setting is a specialist provision for KS3 & 4 students who have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools and who have difficulties engaging in learning and may regularly display extremely challenging behaviour. They offer a broad and balanced curriculum including a range of vocational subjects and are keen that staff should offer a flexible approach to cross curricular working. A proactive enthusiastic approach to teaching and learning is essential along with a positive child centred approach.

The Child

Students at this setting have often experienced challenges in their personal lives which have affected their attitude and engagement in learning. They may also have experienced gaps in their education which mean they are often working below national averages. Most students have low self esteem and lack confidence. Staff need to show sensitivity and understanding to support students develop appropriate strategies to manage their own behaviour and to promote improved engagement in learning.

Do you feel you have what it takes to engage young people, to help overcome barriers to learning and to help build confidence and self esteem?

Are you seeking a new challenge for 2015?

Please send your CV in the first instance for the attention of Karen or call for further details.
