This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT Support Specialist to join one of the UK's leading printing businesses. The position offers variety and challenge together with excellent opportunities to progress within a fast paced environment.
The main purpose of the role is to provide third line technical support for the Enterprise Cash Management (ECM) range of software products. Ideally, you would have some experience gained in a software development house or have track record of managing software releases or have extensive experience working in a technical support role.
Key responsibilities of a IT Support Specialist:
- The primary focus is to provide internal and external end user clients with technical support on both the software and the environment it runs on within the customer environment (Servers, Workstations, WAN / LAN, Database, peripherals etc).
- Managing resolution of issues and tracking them using a call tracking system
- Production of user and technical documentation.
- Training of regional specialists, implementation and support teams in product functionality.
- Providing any external consultancy services as required.
- Participating in release testing of the software products, when necessary.
Qualifications and Experience - IT Support Specialist:
- Degree qualified
- Formal technical training in Microsoft Operating systems
- Unix, Linux, VMWare & Citrix knowledge beneficial.
- Formal technical databases training (Oracle &/or SQL Server) is desirable
- Web knowledge and experience of supporting web based in house products e.g.; Java, HTML, CSS, ASP.net, AJAX, IIS, SSL, CMS etc. are desirable though not essential
- Extensive knowledge of supporting and querying databases (Oracle &/or SQL Server) including transact SQL scripting (Data Manipulation, writing stored procedures etc).
- Practical knowledge of procedures for installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting application software, hardware and peripherals.
- Competent at writing training and technical manuals.
- Experience of testing of business critical packages beneficial.
- Experience of flexible working patterns as out-of-hours support will be required.
- Languages (Spanish, French, German) an advantage, but not essential
