Your Job Responsibilities will include:
* Responsible for leading and coordinating projects from a technology perspective, ensuring that software development life cycle activities are consistent with the direction set by Senior Management and generally accepted best practices.
* Manage projects from the planning stages through to completion, liaising with senior management and clients and ensuring that all work fulfills it’s aims and objectives within specified timescales.
* Co-ordinate and supervise the work of a small team of developers.
* Planning the architecture of a large scale .Net framework, including planning and maintaining code and database structures.
* Planning and Maintaining a highly scalable high availability cloud-based architecture.
* Writing clean, fast and reliable code and performing thorough testing prior to launch.
* Ensuring all code (both from internal and external developers) is of a very high standard and complies with industry best practices.
* Coordinating the systems, procedures and roll-out of code from a development to a production environment.
* Establishing procedures to secure and monitor the sites security.
* Identify alternative solutions, assess feasibility, and recommend new approaches to ensure optimal performance and to meet business needs.
* Able to balance delivering high quality beautiful code within specified timescales and within budget.
Requirements
* Masters degree in Software Engineering or Advanced Computer Science.
* Experience as a software architect or working on a software development team, providing technical leadership/guidance/mentorship.
* Proven track record of managing projects from the initial planning stages through to successful completion, having fully liaised with senior management and clients to achieve this.
* Highly experienced in asp.NET (C# sharp) with proven commercial experience. You must have expert level skills in C# and be able to plan out and implement a large scale software architecture in C#
* Expertise in MS-SQL. You need to be an expert in MS-SQL and be able to implement new solutions and optimise existing solutions for a high transaction site.
* Commercial experience in working on large scale high availability user generated websites.
* You must be an expert at optimising code and database queries and have experience working in a high volume critical production service environment.
* Knowledge of techniques, standards and state-of-the art capabilities for authentication, authorization and use of cryptographic systems as well as experience in platform-level vulnerability hardening.
* You must be a good team player, self-motivated with strong communication and interpersonal skills and the desire to meet and exceed company objectives.
* Experience in building REST based APIs.
* Experience using and managing a large code repository (either subversion or GIT).
* Experience in designing, building and managing a high availability architecture in the cloud (Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services).
* Experience setting up and maintaining Windows Servers (either 2008 or 2012).
* Commercial experience using web technologies (Javascript / jQuery / HTML 5 / CSS) and modern web techniques such as Responsive design.
* Experience using MemCached to improve a large volumes site performance.
* Excellent time management and the ability to meet deadlines.
* Able to take high level direction, formulate a plan to achieve the goals and execute the plan.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience with software delivery concepts such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
* Demonstrated knowledge of industry trends and standards including WCAG 2.0 and W3C standards.
* Due to the nature of the business you will be required to have a DBS check.
Desirable
* Experience coding on a large scale social media application is highly desirable.
* Android or iOS mobile experience is desirable.
* Experience using a NoSQL database to handle large workloads (Mongrel or Dynamo DB)
