A brilliant opportunity to become part of one of the UK’s leading and state of the art manufacturer of commercial catering and back bar equipment, as the new Engineering Manager based in Wrexham. In the past decade over £5m has been invested in facilities, plant and equipment to ensure that the factory continues to be at the forefront in both processes and efficiency. Export is a very important part of our client’s business with over 45% of UK production exported across the globe.

The main focus of the role is to lead the engineering team, develop engineering strategy and drive continuous improvement and engineering projects by enhancing machine and department capability through new technology, processes and methods of working. You will work and manage new product development projects to help expand the IMC Product portfolio and lead from the front through involvement in the more complex engineering tasks as required. So a confident and effective leadership style with the ability to manage a variety of personalities in your team, is absolutely essential for success in this role.

As an Engineering Manager your duties will be to:

- Discuss with management, production and marketing staff to talk through project specifications and procedures
- Coordinate and direct projects to achieve key objectives
- Analyse technology, resource needs and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects
- Plan, direct and undertake new product development projects as well as the review of existing product design and any required changes
- Recruit new team members and manage their output, performance and development needs
- Prepare budgets, bids and contracts and direct negotiation of research contracts
- Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work delivered across the company such as CE marking
- Perform such functions such as reviewing and writing of reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services
- Review, recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates
- Present and explain proposals, reports and findings to client on OEM engineering projects
- Consult and/or negotiate with customers and IMC’s Sales Managers to prepare project specifications
- Set technical goals within broad outlines provided by top management.
- Lead continuous improvement and engineering projects aimed at increasing product performance

An ideal Engineering Manager will hold the following skills and experiences:

- Will have a proven background as an Engineering Manager
- Must have a sound knowledge of both electrical and mechanical applications
- Will be able to manage a number of tasks at the same time whilst thinking quickly and effectively as required
- Must be an excellent communicator across all levels in the business, both internally and externally
- Should be fully familiar with such IT packages as Autodesk Inventor
- Will be experienced in managing a team successfully
- Must be familiar with CE approval and standard implementation

In return you will receive a salary of £40,000 - £45,000 per annum.
