An Electronic Engineer is required to join a funded smart home startup that is set to transform the home security market. Their founders have successfully built and sold technology businesses previously. They have the early technical team on board, have completed a successful crowdfunding campaign and are executing on their delivery plans.

Their first product is a single device that uses audio analytics to sense activity throughout your home. There's no need to set it when you come and go and it learns what's normal for your home to avoid false alarms. When it senses something wrong it sends high quality video straight to your smartphone.

They are an agile business driven by values where they strive to ensure that their best work delivers exceptional value to their customers. They believe that business is much more than a balance sheet and are building a company fit for the future. They combine traditional values of hard work, efficiency and customer centricity with a balanced, transparent culture.

They offer a fun and un-bureaucratic working environment, generous salary and the opportunity to share in the success of their business through an equity incentive plan.

The Role

Their first product uses a Freescale i.MX SoC with a WiFi module and various digital and analogue sensors for data aquisition. The device uses a linux based firmware and has one double sided sensor array PCB and one six layer main board PCB.

You will work closely with their CTO on schematic design, PCB layout and testing as they progress through engineering prototypes. Some liaison with the outsourced mechanical engineers, component vendors and PCB manufacturers will be required.

As an early stage team member you'll have the opportunity to develop with the business as they continue their product iterations and expand their product line. Depending on your career aims, this could include developing production testing plans, modifying designs to accommodate component changes, failure analysis, assisting with migrations of production or leading the development of future products.

You'll be based at their office in central Leeds with easy access to the train station, shops and amenities.

The Candidate

- Graduate Electronics Engineer with 3+ years experience in an electronics design/development environment.
- Good understanding of schematic design and PCB layout using Altium or similar.
- Experience of ARM SoC centered systems running Linux based firmware.
- Hands-on lab experience of board testing and debugging.
- Awareness of design for EMC would be advantageous.
- Flourish in an exciting, loosely defined organisation where learning and change is rapid.
