The Infrastructure Technology business employs approximately 60 people, split across several areas including Software Development, Hosting & Support, Intelligent Transport Systems, ICT Infrastructure, Security and Smart Asset Management. The Technology business has a projected turnover in excess of GBP7m with exciting growth plans in key areas for 2014 and beyond.
Across the scope of the Technology business we lead a comprehensive range of ICT consultancy and delivery services from strategy, solution specification and design, through to detailed design and project management of solution delivery. Currently, our key clients include the Houses of Parliament, Department for Transport, Transport for London, the Highways Agency, and other internal parts of the wider Capita Group.
We are currently recruiting for a customer focused ICT Infrastructure Consultant (Project Manager) with a broad range of experience in designing and delivering ICT solutions with a holistic approach. The ICT Consultant (Project Manager) will support the Technology Business in the development of our ICT related business aspirations across the United Kingdom and will develop significant understanding of the various technology areas involved in the ICT solutions on which the Capita Infrastructure team consult.
The ICT Consultant will be engaged in both developing the response to invitations to tender, and the delivery of client engagements.
The role of the team typically covers:
- Provision of ICT and System Design Consultancy for buildings including Data Centres;
- Design and Consultancy of telecom solutions including VoIP, IP PBX and FTTP & IPTV;
- Design and Consultancy of networks as part of a multi-disciplinary project;
- Design and Implementation of wireless networks;
- Network Security Design and Consultancy.
The Consultant will be responsible for:
- Elicitation of requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits etc.;
- The design of the solution and or elements to meet the needs of the Customer and operational requirements;
- Liaison with technical and solution/network architects;
- Clarification and resolution of issues with overall design;
- Liaison with 3rd parties on design documentation and delivery;
- Key input into Change Controls ie impact on overall projects/programme;
- Collaborating with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision;
- Acting as the Assistant Project Manager for one or more projects within the wider Technology team.
- Supporting the production of technical proposals and tenders;
- Preparation of reports for clients, including modelling of potential costs of the solutions recommended.
Location
The Technology business has teams located in London (City), East Grinstead, Bath, Carlisle, and Darlington with clients based across the United Kingdom. This role will be based in London, Gresham Street.
Skills & Attributes
- Formal IT qualification.(preferably ICT based or similar degree) and subsequent professional training (eg BCS)
- Qualifications/Training in Project Management (eg Prince2 Practitioner)
- Experience of working in a professional consultancy services environment;
- Experience of working under ITIL defined processes and qualifications/training in Project Management (eg Prince2 Practitioner) would be advantageous.
- Literacy and Numeracy Skills to A level standard or equivalent;
- Competent communicator of information both verbally and in writing;
- Strong presentation skills;
- Ability to work as part of a team;
- Adaptable and flexible;
- Proven ability of working successfully with others;
- Ability to prioritise work under pressure and complete within deadlines;
- Good presentation and communication skills, including development of client reports;
- Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to work.
