Aquila, a consortium of Thales and NATs are recruiting an Operations Manager to help deliver capability upgrades across a number of existing sites, providing the MOD with ATM Services for a period of 22 year period. The Operations Managers shall be accountable for the safe and efficient delivery of Technical Services to the MOD End Users in line with project Marshall availability requirements.

The Operations Manager will achieve this by ensuring maintenance personnel are available and competent to maintain the specified assets, through the provision of:

relevant training;

competency assessments;

adequate maintainer resourcing; and

succession planning, ensuring continuity of support.

The Operations Managers shall be the primary customer interface for the Service Delivery Sites and the first point of escalation for technical issues.

The scope of the Project encompasses:

Specified Assets located at over one hundred locations throughout the UK and Permanent Joint Overseas Bases (PJOBs);

In excess of 100 TUPE assigned staff;

Move from a static to mobile maintainer model;

Achieve significant efficiencies from the introduction of new technologies and maintainer model.

Accountabilities

Compliance - Act, at all times, in accordance with the authority delegated by the Service Delivery Director, and in compliance with the policies of the company. Ensure that staff within the Southern maintainer community does likewise.

Safety - Ensure that the assets managed are operated and maintained to the manufactures and regulatory safety requirements (ie Unit/facility Safety cases). Foster an open and approachable environment within the Southern maintainer community, where individuals feel able to raise any potential safety concerns or issues.

Operations & Risk Management - Deliver the company's service commitments through rigorous planning, execution, monitoring, communication and evaluation. Identify and mitigate any business risks arising from operational activities.

Reporting - Ensure the Service Delivery Director is informed of significant operational issues or risks in a timely manner. Deliver all contractual and management documents and other information required by the customer or Service Delivery Director within agree timeframes.

Employee Engagement - Provide leadership and guidance to the Southern maintainer community to ensure all systems are maintained and supported to deliver current and future MoD customer requirements. Inspire people to effectively work together effectively. Recruit, coach, develop and manage the performance of the team to deliver the Project MARSHALL Pay and Performance Mechanism. Ensure that maintainers within the Southern regions are supported with the appropriate development options and career opportunities to maximise their full potential.

Industrial Relations - Develop and foster an open and positive working environment with the trade unions associated with the Service Delivery function to discuss and resolve potential issues.

External Relations - Maintain excellent customer relations and satisfaction with the services delivered by the company. Develop and maintain professional relations with all service delivery related suppliers and ensure consistent delivery to AQUILA's requirements.

Strategic Development - Bringing an intimate knowledge of AQUILA's customers requirements contribute to the development of the Service Delivery strategy and communicate the strategic vision, for operational engineering within AQUILA Service Delivery. Assist in the development of Service Delivery performance management and improvement measures and then implement the same across the Southern regions. Work with stakeholders at all levels to secure their buy-in and active support.

Team Collaboration - Support AQUILA Team colleagues in the fulfilment of their responsibilities and contribute to the general realisation of success by the company.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Personal Qualities

Incorporated Engineer Qualified as recognised by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) or other equivalent relevant professional experience, relevant experience, predominantly gained within an operational maintenance service delivery and business management disciplines.

Good knowledge and experience gained from working in a technology delivery environment, preferably within a Real Time, safety related industry.

Knowledge and experience of commercial delivery and customer relationship management.

Intimate and authoritative knowledge of the MARSHALL contracted services.

Strong influencing, persuasive and communications skills with experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams.

Proven track record in people leadership.

Ability to foster team spirit and work with other business Divisions.
