Kitchen Assistant

Basingstoke, Hampshire

Salary: £6.50 ph (over 21s) £6.40 ph (Under 21s)

Hours: 30 hours a week

This award winning company, recently named Residential Care Provider of the year in the Health Investor Awards 2014 are looking to recruit a Kitchen Assistant for their luxury Nursing Home, Pemberley House in Basingstoke. 

Purpose of the Kitchen Assistant:

1. To support and contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of all Catering services in the Home, delivering consistently high quality menus in accordance with the Company’s brand proposition, resident needs & preferences and annual budget. 

2. To support the maintenance of excellent health & safety standards in the kitchen.

3. To support the maintenance of a positive reputation for the Home in the local community.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

1. The Catering service for residents and all other visitors consistently meets Company standards in terms of nutrition, quality, cost and resident choice.

2. The Catering provision operates in accordance with budget and the Home’s objectives to deliver high quality personalised care.

KEY DUTIES AND TASKS: 

Customer Care

• Ensure that catering services are delivered in accordance with the Company brand proposition, taking into account the needs and preferences of each individual.

• Ensure the courteous and effective delivery of all Catering services throughout the Home.

Operational standards

• Ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures, regulations and Statutory provisions in the effective management of the Home. 

• Support the development, promotion and maintenance of defined standards of catering services, under the direction of the Chef continuously to improve the quality and cost effectiveness of the food provision.

• Support the promotion of health and safety in the kitchen, ensuring a safe environment for residents, employees and visitors, complying will Company health and safety policy. 

• Report all accidents and incidents, taking action as directed.

• Ensure that all documentation relating to Catering services is stored correctly and accessed only in accordance with Company policy.

• Report immediately any instance of suspected abuse, malpractice or other concern to senior staff and ensure details fully and clearly are documented.

Marketing

• Support the maintenance of positive working relationships with residents’ families and all other local community stakeholders.

• Ensure that the Home is well promoted in the local community. 

Financial performance

• Contribute to ensuring that Catering services are delivered in accordance with agreed menus and annual budget. 

• Comply fully with Company policy with regard to revenue and capital expenditure approvals

Leadership and people 

• Undertake as appropriate monthly supervisions and annual performance management assessments.

• Ensure that core skills training is undertaken, that certification is kept current and that agreed personal development plans are followed.
