Our client is a charity & specialist provider of supported living for people with mild- moderate learning disabilities & complex histories. They support people to live independently whilst maintaining their safety & the safety of others. They believe that people with complex histories often require support to build relationships & improve the quality of their day to day life.

They're looking for someone to provide part time or full time waking night support to someone with complex needs who requires a specialist, personalised support service in their family home.

You'll need to build positive relationships & be a motivating influence.

You will be responsible for supporting the person during the evening & morning & carrying out routine checks & household tasks during the night.

Shifts will be 20:00 until 08:15 & they are looking for someone to work either 1, 2 or 3 (full time) shifts per week.

There will be a requirement for day working during initial / continuing training & meetings etc.

Shifts can be flexible or fixed days subject to being available for week day training

Specialist Support Person - Your role & duties will be:

• Using Interpersonal skills to help people make choices, develop self help & independence skills.

• To support the individual at home in the evening & morning & to carry out regular checks & household duties during the night.

• Building good working relationships with the person they support & their family, your colleagues & external organisations involved with the people you support. You are required to show empathy & awareness for others’ individuality, beliefs & cultures. You will recognise & challenge any bias, prejudice & discrimination.  

Specialist Support Person - They’re looking for someone who is:

• Able to work nights shifts 2000-0815 & able to stay alert & responsive to the person’s needs during this time.

• Able to work as part of a team.

•Able to build relationships with the people they support & enable them to expand their circle of support

• Able to observe / monitor & report signs of triggers for risk behaviours.

Specialist Support Person - Other key info: 

• There is regularly time available on shift to carry out private study during the shift subject to regular checks & household task being completed.
