Job Description

The Manager, Project Manager Office, will build and strengthen the brand through the effective project and process management of the key identified “top 10” Belstaff business projects. She/He will sit between the CEO, brand Finance Director and brand HR Director and work with these key stakeholders closely in order to drive the effective implementation of key projects and initiatives within the Belstaff business.

She/He will seek to engage both the stakeholders and the projects in a proactive and collegiate manner so that all involved can see the value and benefit of the role being undertaken. They will use positive influencing skills to carve out the time and priority that will be required from the busy senior (and general) staff to make sure that the projects succeed.

She/He will have oversight of the identification and prioritisation of the top 10 company-wide key projects and initiatives within the business that will fall within the scope/remit of this role. Examples of this might include (but are not limited to):

  • conducting a company-wide review on organisational structure and business alignment;
  • conducting cost benefit analyses for identified changes or projects to assess value and contribution;
  • developing a full accessories and shoe category 3 year business plan;
  • developing the perfect retail experience;
  • Customer Relationship Management– how we take it across the whole business, identifying what it will be and how it will work, setting up CRM across Belstaff – confirming the model, skillset and approach, and then implementing the approach (this project is likely to account for 50% of the role holder’s time for the duration of 2015);
  • Japan – Take the proposal and turn it into a 360 degree business plan with all key stakeholders to deliver it properly.

For each of these projects, the role will be:

  • to map the project process from inception to completion, identifying key stakeholders, required inputs, key milestones, Key Performance and deliverables and desired outcomes;
  • to ‘orchestrate’ the implementation and successful completion of the identified projects, through effective coordination with all involved;
  • to take an active part in delivering content for the projects and initiatives as required;
  • to drive and manage project timelines and actions: informing, motivating and engaging key stakeholders along the way. This role will succeed with the approach of an “energiser” and consultative ally, rather than exclusively being one of policing and control;
  • ‘traffic control’ and process management – to ensure sensible loading of activities and actions, following up and supporting the delivery of key action points as required;
  • to ensure accurate, timely and easy-to-digest tracking and reporting for the business so that progress and achievement can be clearly seen;
  • co-ordination, and logistics management – getting the right people in the right place at the right time to take decisions and move the projects forward; and
  • ensuring project alignment so that individual project streams are sequenced in the best way and so that wherever necessary they come together at the right time.

Criteria for Selection

The candidate must possess the following attributes:

  • able to provide evidence in Business Development and making positive contribution to business sales and/or profit;
  • strong project management experience, (preference for multi-project Portfolio Management experience);
  • Customer Relationship Management experience (including development and planning of roles, processes / programs, as well as technology);
  • strong analytical skills with ability to translate data into meaningful and actionable recommendations;
  • experience with Change Management and implementation of directives and recommendations;
  • MBA or equivalent qualification;
  • experience of working in matrix organisations;
  • fashion experience, preferably in the luxury sectors;
  • able to communicate in English, both in writing and verbally, at business management level,
  • able to manage challenges constructively and manage business conflicts professionally;
  • can build rapport and good working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organisation; and
  • confident at presenting at board level.
