A Marketing Communications Executive is required to join an international membership organisation that promotes and advances civil engineering around the world. They are a qualifying body, a centre for the exchange of specialist knowledge, and a provider of resources to encourage innovation and excellence in the profession worldwide.

The role

Their South West Region is looking for a part-time (29 hours per week) Marketing Communications Executive with External Relations experience who will play a central role in achieving regional objectives by providing effective communication with Members and supporting their knowledge transfer programmes.

Please note this role is to provide maternity cover for approximately seven months.

Duties and responsibilities

- Ensuring effective communication with Members of the outputs delivered in the region.
- Managing the content and development of the regional electronic communications (e-news) to provide effective member communication.
- Providing communications and branding support, to the regional committee, officers and branches.
- Act as a regional communication representative providing intelligence and input to national project teams or other internal groups ensuring national projects are representative of regional issues.
- Developing marketing campaigns including the production of promotional materials for major regional seminars, conference and forums to ensure quality events.
- Coordinating the promotion of regional events to members and wider audiences through the production of promotional materials and through other media.
- Initiating and supporting income-generating activity (e.g. sponsorship and advertising).
- Managing the content and development of the regional web pages to deliver timely, accurate, valuable and up-to-date information.
- Preparing, writing and issuing press releases to regional media and dealing with press enquiries.

What are they looking for?

The successful candidate will have experience in marketing communications and external relations, as well as experience in the organisation, administration, coordinating and marketing of events. Consequently, it would be desirable for applicants to possess strong project management skills. Applicants should possess strong oral and written communication skills, have good proof reading and editing abilities and it would be advantageous to have experience of producing marketing-support material, including web-based communications, newsletters and calendars of events together with experience of production of press releases. Candidates should have good working knowledge of MS Office, and experience of using Desk top Publishing software and Content Management Systems.
