We are looking for a compassionate, professional and non-judgmental individual with experience of working with people in crisis and those with complex needs to fill the role of Recovery Practitioner.

CAN is an independent regional agency, first established in 1972. We provide a range of drug, alcohol and homelessness services throughout Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Bedfordshire. We are passionate about the people we work with, ensuring that they have the right support and services so that they can reach their potential, and live free from the damaging affects of substance misuse and homelessness.

We recently entered into a formal partnership with Richmond Fellowship, one of the biggest voluntary sector providers of mental health care in England. This marks the beginning of an exciting new era where we can pool our expertise, enabling us to strengthen and improve the services we can offer to support people with mental health and substance misuse problems.

In the role of Recovery Practitioner you will help provide a range of recovery-focussed open access and specialist services to those experiencing difficulties with alcohol and/or drugs, alongside their partners, family members and other professionals. You will deliver invaluable advice, information, comprehensive assessments and recovery plans.

As Recovery Practitioner you will also:

  • Work on a rota basis as part of a duty team
  • Provide triage/intervention to ensure clients are appropriately referred
  • Be responsible for maintaining a caseload, supporting clients through their treatment journey
  • Deliver a range of individual and group activities
  • Facilitate access for family members, partners and carers to self help and support groups.

To secure this role you will need:

  • Experience of working in a tier 3 service and prescribing medication
  • A working knowledge of alcohol and/or drug misuse
  • Experience of facilitating group work
  • Experience of liaising effectively with a variety of people/organisations
  • A familiarity with assessment processes and an understanding of recovery-focussed interventions
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, and a commitment to diversity and equality practices.
