OUR CLIENT, A GLOBAL TIER 1 CONSULTANCY, IS LOOKING FOR A SENIOR ENGINEER TO JOIN THEIR SAFETY AND TRANSPORTATION TEAM AND ASSIST WITH THE FEASABILITY, DESIGN, CONSULTATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF TRAFFIC SAFETY SCHEMES. Responsibilities To manage and implement traffic engineering and road safety projects and report on a monthly basis on programming and financial aspects To be able to liaise with the client team on progress and to provide advice and guidance as necessary To analyse traffic and accident data and formulate evidence based engineering solutions. To arrange site investigations, surveys and other related work To prepare reports, drawings, schedules, bills of quantities, cost estimates, works orders and other documents in accordance with current industry standards To manage contractors and monitor their performance To undertake tasks as required under the CDM Regulations on projects To undertake liaison with other sections of the Department, other Departments, Elected Members and other key stakeholders To ensure technical reports and correspondence take into account current policies and best practice, and are delivered on time To ensure that day to day correspondence and other communications are dealt with professionally, speedily and effectively To ensure colleagues and other line managers are kept informed of progress To assist and advise on any aspect relating to the work of the team Qualifications Skills Experience A relevant Degree or equivalent professional qualification Corporate membership of a relevant professional institution, or working towards achieving Good ability in project and programme management Good working knowledge of current national, regional and local guidance standards with regards to the fields of highway and traffic engineering Awareness of up to date initiatives best practise in highways and transportation Must be able to demonstrate up to date and relevant knowledge of all aspects of scheme design Awareness of all, of the following disciplines Highway Traffic engineering Traffic signal design installation Construction methodology Health and Safety, including the CDM Regulations Ability to work and liaise with a wide range of professionals. Experience of managing a team and the ability to manage resources to deliver work on time and to agreed budgets Experience of managing projects on site and working with contractors Must have the ability to prioritise, to achieve deadlines and to work with minimal supervision You should be a team player with the ability to delegate and accurately interpret the work of others. Have good spoken and written communication skills and able to present at Committees and other functions. Ability to liaise with others including the public sector, members of the public and other Senior colleagues. IT literate.
