Project Engineer - Newcastle upon Tyne

Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum Plus Excellent Benefits

Greggs is the leading bakery food-on-the-go retailer in the UK. We have ten regional bakeries, a central savoury production unit, a distribution centre and our own fleet of 375 delivery vehicles.

Due to our recent success and growth plans we are now looking to recruit a Project Engineer to join us in Newcastle.

Project Engineer Role:

Reporting to the Bakery Operations Manager, the Project Engineer role will be based initially in our most automated and high volume facility where you will handle projects in state of the art robotics, automation and refrigeration.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team developing solutions for a high volume continuous production plant. You'll work closely with the site Production and Engineering teams to establish their needs and put in place the right solutions. The role will involve some travel and offers opportunities to progress into a wider Project role within the business, so flexibility is essential.

The Ideal Project Engineer will:

  • For this role the Project Engineer should have a minimum of 3 years engineering management / project experience in a food or FMCG business.
  • The successful Project Engineer should hold a HNC or higher level qualification in an engineering discipline.
  • You will be fully conversant with all Microsoft packages and have a wealth of experience in leading, coaching and managing the performance of Technicians and Engineers.
  • You will also have excellent communication skills, be an outstanding problem solver and have a demonstrable track record of delivering performance improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Previous experience of PPM, AutoCAD and CMMS is desirable.

Working Hours Include:

You will be working mainly Monday to Friday although we would be looking for flexibility as the need for working some evenings and weekends will be required. Some travel around the UK will also be required.
