Committed and innovative Room Leader required to join our new bilingual nursery in Wandsworth. Little Linguists Nursery School Ltd has a clear mission statement to provide quality care and education in a bilingual, stable, caring environment. This will give children a unique opportunity to learn in and about another language and culture, whilst still meeting the demands of the Early Years Foundation Stage, striving for high standards and progress in their learning. Other business activity will include running one-hour creative classes for parents and babies.

Role and Responsibilities

As Room Leader you will be expected:
  • To assist the nursery manager and deputy manager in providing professional leadership and management of the nursery.
  • To lead by example, to challenge and support staff to realise and achieve their full potential.
  • To follow the one-person one-language (OPOL) system.
  • To provide appropriate care and supervision of the children at all times.
  • To be motivated and enthusiastic about working with young children.
  • To assist the nursery assistants in planning and observations of children.
  • Provide regular feedback on performance to staff.
  • To lead the planning, assessment and implementation of the EYFS curriculum in your room.
  • Contribute towards achieving nursery occupancy targets.
  • Control costs in line with agreed budgets.
  • To work towards achieving a happy & welcoming environment for children, parents & visitors.
  • To manage own workload and keep allocated key children's books and report's up to date.
  • To ensure that all children receive stimulating play experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development.
  • To adhere to all policies and procedures at all times.
  • Notify the Nursery Manager or Deputy Manager of any concerns or issues regarding policies, procedures or operational practice.
  • To develop effective relationships with your colleagues and carers.
  • Represent the Company and advance its interests in the local community.
  • Support the maintenance of a safe and clean environment for children (including tidying up rooms, putting away in dishwasher, etc).
  • To assist during meal times.
  • To maintain personal hygiene for children under 5 (including nappy changing).
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and appropriate training courses when required.
  • Assume additional management responsibilities as and when required.
  • To commence a level three or higher qualification in early years within the first 12 months of employment.
  • Travel occassionally may be required

  • You will need the ability to work at short notice.
  • The successful candidates will be caring for children aged between six weeks and five years old between the hours of 7.30am and 6.30pm Monday - Friday.
