About the Windows Infrastructure Systems Engineer (.Net, SQL, Oracle, Windows) role:

An experienced infrastructure engineer is required by the Data Centre Services group within IT Services to help maintain and support essential college IT infrastructure components. It is our strategic vision that the Data Centre Services group will host all of our server hardware and common infrastructure software.

This is a challenging and important position for a bright, motivated and enthusiastic windows expert. The successful candidate will assist in running the University's various key systems. These include central web, email, directories and identity management and other core information systems and provide technical expertise to shape our strategic path.

Essential requirements for the Windows Infrastructure Systems Engineer (.Net, SQL, Oracle, Windows):

Candidates should have a degree (or equivalent) in computer science or a related subject and have experience of systems engineering in a modern mixed Windows or Linux server environment. With a strong background in most of the following windows technology areas.

•Authentication and Accounting: Active Directory.
•Identity Management: FIM, Active Roles Server or other IAM system.
•Mail: Exchange or Office 365.
•Scripting: PowerShell or .Net.
•Operating Systems: Windows 2008r2, Windows 2012, SCOM or SCCM.

Desirable requirements for the Windows Infrastructure Systems Engineer (.Net, SQL, Oracle, Windows):

•Web: IIS, ASP.
•Databases: SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle.
•Network Service Protocols: TCP/IP, SMTP, HTTP, DNS and LDAP.
•Project management qualification e.g. Prince 2 (D), MSP (D), PMP qualified (D) or demonstrable experience of project delivery.
•ITIL foundation qualified or demonstrable management and operational experience using appropriate best practice framework. (D)

In addition to the core technical skills, the candidate should have demonstrable experience of IT project implementation and an understanding of how to work in a team towards a project goal whilst also managing the day to day demands of service operations.

The post is full time and permanent (35 hours per week). Salary will be in the range GBP35,319-GBP41,553 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
