Job Title: Backup Infrastructure Consultant
Location: Rawdon, Leeds, LS19 6BA
Salary: up to GBP35,000pa depending on level of experience

Are you a talented Backup Infrastructure consultant with at least 3 years' experience in IT backup and infrastructure?

Our Hosted Services department has over 115 members of staff who all work hard to maintain our 99.9% production environment uptime target ensuring our customers receive the best possible experience. The department is multi-skilled in a wide range of IT expertise, including data backup & restore.

You would be joining our existing backup & restore team who are passionate about what they do, supporting the high availability of 3800+ MS SQL 2008/2012 databases currently in production. Although we are predominately a MS SQL Server house, due to a shift in some business requirements, we now manage the MYSQL backup infrastructure. You will be learning and developing your skills with the support of senior members of the team with on-the-job training and additional support for professional qualifications.

Essential skills and experience

•Excellent communication skills at different IT levels
•Previous experience of working within an IT Managed Services/Technology organisation.
•Proven experience of Infrastructure / Backup technologies and Managed Services.
•Demonstrate good understanding and working knowledge on data replication.
•Hands on experience of supporting operational activities in the area of Symantec Netback-up 7.5 and above.
•Demonstrate good understanding of various tape library hardware and components.
•Implementation of all SAN based backups on Leading Tape Library Technologies.
•Performance tuning and optimisation for NetBackup and storage.
•Planning Backup Policies, Storage Units and Pools.
•Online Backups for Databases, Mail Servers etc.
•Performance Management for Backup/Restore.
•Optimising Media Consumption.
•Scripting / Automation of Major/ Complex Tasks.
•Recovery of Backup/Restore from failure.
•Planning and Implementing Security for Backup & Restore Tools.
•Excellent documentation skills
•Installation, configuration, administration and complete maintenance of NetBackup

Desirable skills and experience

•Symantec Netback-up certification
•ITIL v3 would be a distinct advantage
•Exposure to healthcare IT systems
•Certification or experience in other backup platforms e.g, VEEAM, MS DPM, ARCserve
•Implementation and designing of Backup solutions for enterprise environments

Your job as a Backup Infrastructure Consultant (not limited to the following)

•Maintain a high availability database infrastructure through restore & back-up, hosting clinical records across more than 3,800 databases.
•Responsible to uphold the highest standards in database availability, recoverability and performance.
•Should it be required, participate in out of hours restores
•Should it be required, be available for 3rd line support to the business
•Liaise with the storage specialists on backup related issues
•Contact with internal customers and suppliers
•Monthly reporting on backup usage and performance.
•Feed into the future proofing of the backup infrastructure
