This is an opportunity to join a c£160million business which supplies cake and desserts to service the own brand of the major retailers. There are two sites in the north west; Bolton and Oldham. The Bolton site is more commodity based products making slab cakes, pies and cakes for every major retailer.
They are a profitable business with a clear commercial strategy and strong relationship with its customers through its energy, style and commitment to partner relationships and quality. They currently have a newly created position within their management structure working within their production environment.
Role Profile
- Support the Business Unit Manager and Shift Manger in overseeing and driving production with particular emphasis on cost control of packaging, labour, waste reduction, and quality
- To promote and develop an environment of 'Lean Manufacturing' in order to deliver continuous improvements
- To ensure the manufacturing process is controlled to produce products at correct specification and internal processes and documentation are adhered to
- Preparation and presentation of production targets and KPI information
- To promote high levels of motivation and morale within the business through sound leadership and effective communication
- To fully participate in New Product Development activities as appropriate and run plant trials accordingly
- Initiate and drive projects to support business initiatives and improve production objectives
- Liaise with internal departments to provide support and build strong working relationships and safeguard business integrity in all matters
Candidate Profile:
- The candidate must be able to be flexible across working a variety of shifts including day/afternoon shifts and weekends as required
- Social skills and personable persona with presence and gravitas and experience of leading teams within production
- Ideally Degree or equivalent, with strong decision making skills
- At least 5 years experience in a manufacturing production environment which is high speed and labour intensive, ideally within food
- The business acumen to understand financial and manufacturing KPI's
- The confidence to represent shift managers both internally and with external third parties and contribute to the manufacturing environment with new ideas
Package:
- Salary within £22- 27k dependent on experience
- 25 days holiday a year and 8 statutory holidays
- Money purchase pension scheme with 2% contribution of salary
