Our Quality team play a vital role in Pukka – it’s their job to ensure that all our raw materials are top notch and meet our exceptional quality standards before they go to our UK based manufacturers. Then, they check the finished product, whether that’s one of our delicious teas, fantastic wellbeing or food products, so that we send only the best to our customers. As you can imagine, that means we’ve got rigorous testing and tasting processes so we maintain our reputation for high quality products and with our massively growing sales portfolio the team are looking for an entry level Herbal Quality Technician.

The role is fundamentally responsible for assuring the quality of the herbs we purchase by using the best quality standards and right testing methodologies and most of that activity is carried out in our lab at the Hawkfield Park offices. Full training will be provided so that on a daily basis you’ll be able to carry out all these tasks:

- Ensuring there is effective communication on the quality status of raw materials and blends at all times to colleagues and raw material/blend suppliers.

- Updating raw material specifications so they are current, controlled and relevant.

- Coordinating sensory assessments for routine and new product development.

- Undertake a range of testing that includes essential oil testing, physical assays, macroscopic and microscopic testing but is not limited to these.

- Maintaining hygiene and housekeeping standards for the laboratory.

- Updating technical documents such as SOPs, specifications, MSDS, COSHH assessments related to herbal quality activities.

- Keeping records related to the quality assessment of raw materials and blends.

- Production of certificate of analysis and conformity for raw materials and blends.

- Management of raw material archive and reference materials.

In terms of who you are and what you might bring to Pukka, you’ll be educated to A Level, or equivalent, in science subjects, preferably chemistry and/or biology and have done some work experience within a food, manufacturing or lab related environment. Through that you’ll have understood quality concepts, such as quality control and assurance and good manufacturing practices and proved that your desire to follow procedures and ability to work with minimal supervision are something that come naturally to you. Your other talents will include working with an attention to detail, flexibility when working in a team and being organized and meticulous in your approach.

The role is based at our Hawkfield Park offices in Bristol and the salary for the role is around £15,000 per annum, and with it comes a benefits package designed to nurture your wellbeing.
