Working as part of the Independent Mental Health Advocate service (IMHA), you will provide advocacy support to patients detained under the Mental Health Act. A working knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act is a must, as well as being able to demonstrate good listening and negotiation skills and to be used to liaise with key stakeholders without compromising the independence of the advocacy role.
As a capable and confident Manager, ideally within the field of advocacy, you will have responsibility for the development and management of the local services including supporting Healthwatch provision within Berkshire, the line management of staff, and promoting our services to all relevant stakeholders in the local community.
You will bring proven ability to engage with vulnerable people. It is essential that the post holder works to develop constructive working relationships particularly ensuring they engage quickly with the critical members of the Hospital team and patients, the Trust and Commissioner. Above all you’ll be ready to make your mark from day one.
Professionally qualified, you will bring an impressive track record within health, social care or advocacy environments. The post is home and office based so you will need to have access to broadband services at home. A clean driving licence is essential.
Flexibility with working hours is also important, together with the willingness to undertake training if needed. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this position.
