The purpose of this Wintel Administrator (Network, Networking, Cisco) role is to perform as a Citrix/Wintel team member to support computing systems (server, storage and network) located in SCIS DP data centres that provide hosting environments for SCIS applications and data.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate technical skills and capabilities that are used to produce outcomes that meet technical quality, cost and schedule requirements and support a cooperative and collaborative work environment.
Key Skills and Responsibilities of the Wintel Administrator (Network, Networking, Cisco):
• System integration, hardware and software installation, configuration and disposition of servers and workstations to support the architecture.
• Provides problem resolution, root cause analysis and technical support for delivery systems.
• Administers user system access and establishes safeguards to protect information to meet security requirements.
• Activities to monitor system performance to support capacity planning, backup and disaster recovery planning.
• Plans and coordinates system changes. Manages specific programs and projects to completion.
• Failure to obtain results, reaching erroneous decisions or making recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
• Interacts frequently with inter-organisational personnel and external customers.
• Represents the organisation by providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
• Participates in the design, validation and configuration management of computing delivery systems.
Qualifications and Experience required for the Wintel Administrator (Network, Networking, Cisco) role:
Essential skills: Citrix XenApp Active Directory Virtualisation technologies (VMWARE) Windows 2003/2008 Operating Systems HP Proliant/Enclosure/Virtual Connect An awareness of the following technologies is an advantage: Cisco Networking FC Storage Presentation Backup Technologies Virtualisation technologies (KVM, HP VM, Aries, LPAR, NPAR, VPARS)

Position is located in Bristol, UK. Some travel to MOD sites will be required. Rotational On Call 1 week in 4 is also required.
