Woodworking Production Joiner

Estimated salary:  £25,000 based on a 40 hour week

Working hours:   flexible 8 hours per day between 7:00am and 5:00pm 

This company is a new and innovative start up business which ‘off site’ manufactures a range of uniquely designed eco modular buildings for a variety of market sectors. These pre-manufactured buildings are made to the highest quality and are engineered to be perfectly carbon negative. 

Having spent 3 years researching and developing two prototype models of the building the Directors are aggregating orders and will commence manufacture in December 2014. 

The Production line joiner will be instrumental in a variety of wood working tasks concerned with building up key components for the modular building with speed and precision.  

Key skills

• Ability to use hand and power tools with accuracy and precision: drills, saws, jigsaws, circular saws, planes, power screwdrivers, pin and nail guns

• Ability to operate workshop machines: planers, table saws, spindle moulders

• Willingness to train and an aptitude for learning skills and techniques outside previous experience (including the operation of new machines)

• Knowledge of safe working methods, and willingness to adopt as required

• High level of fitness appropriate to assembling and moving heavy components

• IT skills suitable for record keeping, time recording etc

• Good mental maths and competence with job related calculations

• Willingness to learn on the job and correct mistakes to the foreman’s satisfaction

• Attention to quality of work

The successful candidate will also have an interest in and commitment towards sustainable practices, a pleasant attitude and a high level of enthusiasm for the work to be undertaken.
