We are looking for a Engineering Manager (Services) to join our team based in our new build super site in Crawley, West Sussex. The Engineering Manager (Services) will join a Technical Support Section of our Through Life Support Engineering (TLSE) Hub. The Engineering Manager (Services) will ensure the effective management of the engineering content of their allocated service project/projects. Working as part of the Project Management Team, the In Service Engineering Manager will take all technical decisions within their authority. To establish, manage and drive the engineering strategy within a key Service Project and ensure that all engineering aspects of the Service Project are carried out in accordance with the Project Plans and Company policies and procedures. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with an Engineering background or Project Manager with an Engineering background to further develop their skills and work on exciting products/projects.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

Work Package Management for Project Engineering Activities and ensuring that all members of the team are aware of the deliverables, timescales and budget;
Primary Project engineering point of contact with the Customer and Partners;
Management of the engineering effort for the Project;
Co-ordination of the TLSE activities for the Project;
Liaison with the off-site Technical Support team;
Responsible for achievement of TLSE and Engineering milestones, metrics and reporting to meet the Project requirements (Technical, Cost, Schedule and Quality).
Establishment, and management, of configuration control strategy for Thales responsibilities;
Risk identification, management and reporting to the Project Manager;
Support to the Project Manager as engineering representative at Management Team Progress Reviews and Customer Management Reviews;
Managing the allocated aspect of the Project(s) in accordance with the Project Plans, Company Procedures and relevant legislation.
Proposing improvements for operational activities, business tools and processes
Provide support to Business Development, Bids & Proposal activities including;
Requirements management, (technical and non-technical)
Additional Project-specific activities and responsibilities as agreed with the Project and Functional Managers.
Daily coaching and mentoring of team.
Support Recruitment of personnel.
Ensuring that any product safety requirements are not compromised by work carried out by the team and that all local safety procedures are adhered to.

Experience, Skills, Qualifications:

Essential

Team player who can interface well with Engineering Management and site based customer and Thales teams.
General engineering knowledge/experience in support, test, production and development environments.
Good understanding of Engineering Standards, engineering processes and maturity models
Conversant with Microsoft Office Toolset
Good standard of written and spoken English
Experienced in successful management of technical teams
Familiar with working in a relevant Support or Service environment and managing the customer/supplier relationships (internal and external)
Estimating and bid support
Degree in relevant Engineering subject, or equivalent Higher Qualification or combination of relevant practical and academic experience commensurate with the technical requirements of the role.

Work package management and reporting
Good analytical skills
Familiar in using Teamcenter
Ability to liaise with all levels of management and promote a good working relationship
Good time-management skills.
