About the Role
This is a Senior Analyst role responsible for the design, implementation and administration of all Storage and Virtualisation technologies deployed within the estate and will provide technical expertise to 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support teams. It's a pivotal role in the Development, implementation and ongoing management of the Storage and Virtualisation technologies and will ensure the smooth day to day running of the technology platforms. The ideal candidates must have proven ability to implement, document and continuously monitor/upgrade the Storage and Virtualisation Technologies across all business areas with a sound best practice process and procedural history.

About You
You need to be confident in liaising with a wide variety of stakeholders and levels of the organisation and be able to adapt your communication style appropriately. You will need to be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge of the following and if it's within an insurance or financial services environment then great, but it's not essential.
- VSphere 5.5 and Netapp Ontap 7-8 Focused (7-mode and Cluster-mode)
- Significant experience of the Netapp Technology Stack Ontap 7-8 and 7mode and Cluster-mode highly desirable
- Desirable NetApp Certified Storage Professional Certification or above (NCDA) (NCIE)
- Desirable ITIL V3 Foundation certification or equivalent experience considered
- Ability to write technical documentation and investment proposals for presentation to CIO/CTO management and other technical teams.
- PowerShell Scripting experience
- Significant experience managing VMWare VSphere 5 in a medium to large organisation
- VCP 5 certification desirable
- Experience with enterprise plus and associated features in large scale deployments (host profiles, HA, DRS)
- Powercli experience, creating new and amending existing scripts
- Nice to have:
- Cisco 1000v, HP RDP, P2V/V2V, Tintri, EMC Centera, Hyper-v experience
The Details
Typical responsibilities will include the following activities
- BAU Support - Day to Day support of the storage and virtualisation estate
- Best practise consultancy with other technology areas - Specifications, Version and Configuration
- Project delivery - Provision, Deliver, Manage in a timely manner
- Capacity planning - Ensure scalability, performance and budget alignment for infrastructure procurement.
- Technology visibility - How can we provide our services better by maintaining market visibility
- Documentation - Create and maintain process, procedural documentation and input into the solution design process
- Migration planning and execution
- Service Protection - Backup/Restore, Patching, Performance, Benchmarking
- Testing solutions without impacting critical production services.
- Scripting - Automate repeatable day to day procedures and overcome challenges efficiently
- Liaise with CTO to ensure solutions are aligned to business strategy
