Software Developer

The Company

Our clients, Accessplanit, have a great opportunity for a Software Developer to join their team. Accessplanit provide learning and training course management software systems which incorporate the optimum level of functionality to meet business needs. They design software with the flexibility to suit every business model, so whilst their core system functionality remains the same they tailor it to meet their customers’ needs in almost every case. They also innovate changes throughout the system to remain competitive in the marketplace and to ensure prospective customers prefer to do business with them.

Role Objective

As a Software Developer you will play a key role in the design, configuration, testing, integration, data migration, installation and maintenance of the accessplanit software systems whilst conforming to standard working practices and sharing knowledge within the team.

Key Tasks

- As Software Developer, you will need to learn the structure of a complex, mature software application and be able to locate and repair problems in the code as well as make enhancements within the framework of the existing product. All changes will need to conform to our quality standards which control the standardised methods of work.

- The role will require the leverage of technologies and utilities such as HTML, C#, Java Script, J Query, NVC, Linq, XML, TSQL, TSP, JSON etc. to work cooperatively within our architectural, technical, operational and business hierarchies.

- All work should be specified in advance by the Business Analyst and it is the responsibility of the  Developers to ensure the specifications they receive are sufficient to be understood and executed in the optimum time.

- Once completed, all work requires testing as part of the quality control process to provide a consistent quality of product to our customers and to prevent a subsequent level of issues arising, which then require Helpdesk responses and re-work.

- Activity records need to be maintained as required and these will be used to analyse the type and rate of work undertaken and compared to the amount of work charged to the customer or allocated against in-house developments. This provides a commercial measure both for invoice value and in-house development investment.

- You will be expected to stay up to date with new developments and technologies within your field as pertains to this Software Developer role and to provide knowledge share with other members of the Development team.

- Provide mentoring to junior team members and collaborate with other developers to deliver innovative solutions.

Required Skills

- Knowledge of programing skills and Object orientated programming principals are prerequisites.

- Expertise in one or more development languages, with a working knowledge of some of the following: HTML, C#, Java Script, NVC, JQuery, Linq, XML, TSQL, TSP and JSON.

- Attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve system problems.

- Ability to work from a detailed specification and the tenacity to query any areas requiring further clarity, including time allocation to the tasks specified. To then work to schedule, achieving both time and quality related requirements.

- As a Software Developer it will be required, from time to time, to liaise with in-house staff, end users and customer representatives of varying backgrounds and levels of understanding. Software developers will be called upon to verify behaviour of the application when replicating issues reported as bugs, as well as discuss highly technical subject matter pertaining to design requirements surrounding new in-house and customer specified bespoke developments.

- Effective communication skills are expected as part of the role, as well as the ability to verbally describe or document existing functionality in the application.

Desired Skills
