Our client is the UK’s leading supplier of freshly cooked prawns, shellfish and other seafoods. They are committed to sourcing and producing the finest and freshest seafood you can buy.

  They are now seeking a buyer to work within the Commercial team, who will have responsibility for the purchasing and sourcing of seafood products.

 This role has a pivotal part to play in shaping the future land scape of the buying function and the successful candidate will need to be able to manage a number of projects covering the full range of purchasing activities as well as being involved in direct buying.

  This role will include;

• Reviewing the purchase cost efficiency and savings in all areas and ensuring that efficient purchasing requirements are managed effectively.

• Formulating purchasing policies,

• Sourcing and visiting of new/alternative suppliers and initiating new contracts,

• Organising / maintaining the policies for procurement product, of seafood items required by the company, developments and the progress of sector,

• Develop relationships both internally and externally

• Keeping informed of up to date UK and EEC legislation and ensure all goods purchased are within legislation and conform to Trading Standards requirements,

• Develop knowledge / keep informed of new developments within the business - proactively talking to and meeting with customers, suppliers and potential suppliers and by attending trade shows and exhibitions where appropriate,

• To travel as required to any supplier factory or co-packer to resolve issues around any of the goods or services procured,

• Act as departmental co coordinator for all Food Service purchase and sourcing requirements.

  To be successful at this role, it is essential you have a strong adaptable personality to meet the demands required for this buying position. International travel will be part of this position, so the ability to quickly understand different cultures and buying processes will be essential in order to successfully achieve the overall goal.   Having previous exposure in a similar role within a manufacturing environment would be an advantage. Part of this role will include working to tight deadlines so the ability to effectively manage your own time and be flexible to meet demand is essential.   This is an excellent opportunity for a Buyer to move forward in there career and achieve personal and career goals.
