Technical Author - Contract

Our highly successful, well-established manufacturing client is looking for a technical author to join its supportive and collaborative writing team. In this varied role, you will be developing online and printed user, service technician and dealer information for a range of products, including owner handbooks, service manuals and bulletins, vehicle preparation guides, accessory fitting instructions, and training documentation. This is a great opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking, exciting company as they continue to expand their iconic product portfolio. This is an initial six month contract (extensions likely) and the start date can be in September, October or later due to project timeframes. Some home working may be considered.

As the successful candidate, you will have:

• Previous technical writing experience.
• Experience in the automotive industry (as a technical author and/or service technician, or similar workshop/technical role).
• Good proof reading skills.
• The ability to follow company documentation procedures and corporate style.
• A high level of computer literacy (eg page layout software, Adobe Illustrator, FrameMaker).
• Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate the flow of information with engineers, technicians and manufacturing staff.

Experience of FrameMaker (structured and/or unstructured) is useful but definitely not essential, as training can be provided.
