Job Title: Deputy Care Home Manager
Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire
Salary: £27,500 - £30,000 Depending on Experience

Accountable to: Home Manager, Area Manager, Senior Managers and Directors

Deputy Care Home Manager - Job Purpose:

•Support the Manager in the overall management of the home
•Assume responsibilities of the Manager in his/her absence
•Create an environment which respects the rights and wishes of the residents and encourages person centred care and independence

Deputy Care Home Manager - Principal Responsibilities:

•Assist in overall management of the home promoting a homely, safe environment
•Conversant with policies and procedures and regulatory framework which the home is required to comply ensuring the home operates in accordance with these.
•Assist in reviewing the homes policies and procedures. Developing as necessary in accordance with changes in care practices and statutory requirements.
•Ensure care practices are reflective of requirements of the statutory bodies and such practices are reviewed and developed regularly
•Ensure systems in place that promotes residents participation in planning and reviewing care
•Maintain efficient system for assessing and evaluating residents care needs and delivery of care
•Ensuring appropriate exchange of information between grades of staff promoting continuity of care
•Liaise with relevant parties to facilitate service user care and well-being
•Report shortfalls in provision of service to the Home Manager or Area Manager
•Ensure safe administration of drugs in accordance with the NMC and the Home’s policy. Reporting to the Home Manager as necessary
•Delegate duties to other staff members and monitor their performance
•Participate in staff training and provide support to junior staff
•Contribute to continuing development of the home through professional self-development and the promotion of evidence based practice
•Promote the effective and efficient use of all resources and supplies to maintain an adequate stock level of all items appropriate to the needs of the service users
•Provide “on-call” duty as required
•Undertake other duties applicable to the post
•Attend mandatory and in house training
•Assist with compliance of CQC and the home audits

Health and Safety:

• Be conversant with and ensure all staff are aware of the requirements under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and of their compliance. Advise the Manager of any areas of concern.

Night Duty: This is a wakeful duty unless notified otherwise

• Changes which affect the organisation may necessitate the responsibilities of this post to be reviewed

Deputy Care Home Manager - Qualifications: 

• Registered nurse with experience caring for the Service User group
• Knowledge and experience of working in the independent sector
