As a Community Development Worker, you will work as part of a team promoting mental, health and social inclusion through providing social, recreational and educational activities. You’ll also empower clients to contribute to the service, thus promoting their capacity for independence.

As Community Development Worker, your role will see you:

  • Help develop, and participate in, a programme of support that furthers the aims and objectives of the service and organisation
  • Establish links with Primary Care Community Development Workers to research and share good practice across the area
  • Identify community concerns/gaps in the service we, and other Voluntary and Statutory Services, provide in the Tameside area and develop joint working opportunities and effective pathways
  • Strategically influence and improve mental health service provision based on the needs of black racial minorities and other communities

This is a great opportunity to help your allocated clients formulate and pursue positive personal development programmes so they're able to move on to more independent living within the community. You’ll need:

  • Proven experience in a related field that included planning/running group activities, providing advice and guidance and putting effective action/support plans in place
  • Good team leadership/development/supervision skills and the ability to delegate
  • Knowledge of equal opportunities and keyworking/groupworking and a flair for planning/prioritising work and using your initiative
  • Professional integrity, good listening and communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to deal with personal stress
  • A willingness to carry out on-call duties/shift work/weekend and evening work, including some overnights, and to attend training events and meetings as necessary

Managing more than 120 services nationwide, Richmond Fellowship provides an immensely diverse range of services to people with mental health needs.

We offer great benefits, including 25 days’ holiday per year (pro rata), contributory pension scheme, employee assistance programme and childcare vouchers.
