Client Profile:
Company within the financial service industry is currently looking to bring on a Senior Database Administrator. They offer a range of financial services within a Healthcare sector.

Role Description:

Senior Database Administrator.

Primary function of the role:
To act as the database team’s dedicated project resource for various business driven projects
Role may include aspects of BAU support for existing systems. This can include the following:
To provide database expertise and support to the core production and ancillary systems.
To run the core business-critical processes and to enhance support of business systems.
To provide 2nd/3rd Line support for the user community, whilst meeting agreed services levels and delivering 1st class customer service.
Act as primary DBA / Database Developer for project work:
Assist with various technical business driven projects to agreed specification and deadlines as required.
Update other DBA Team members on project progress and present information for sharing and learning purposes at team meetings.
Support of the IT Departments change management process ensuring that all changes made to both operational systems and the data held within are fully documented leaving a full audit trail.
To provide analysis and evaluations of new technologies and to propose as appropriate best use of these technologies.
Enforce adherence to, and advise on, database design best practices
Secondary responsibilities:
Routine maintenance including capacity and risk planning to ensure that the company’s strict service levels are exceeded.
To participate as part of the release management and crisis management groups providing high-level advice and support with regard to relational database management systems.
Management reporting to deliver regular and ad hoc management reports for business efficiency
Assist with BAU support of live business infrastructure when required

Person Specification:
- Experience working within projects as technical lead for database design and development
- Excellent in depth working knowledge of all aspects of Microsoft SQL Server (monitoring, auditing, backup, capacity planning, security, performance tuning, installation, clustering etc). Versions 2012, 2008R2. 2014 desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft BI Stack, especially SSIS. SSAS desirable.
- Excellent T-SQL skills
- Excellent database design skills
- Good knowledge of data protection, governance and architecture
- Good knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and virtualisation. Clustering desirable.
- Good analytical / problem solving / troubleshooting skills.
- Experience of providing detailed technical (2nd/3rd line) support
- Experience of Agile methodologies desirable

Education:
- At least 6 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grades A-C - including Maths and English (essential)
- Degree in Business / IT related discipline (desirable)
- Database related technical qualifications (desirable)
