The role of Media Relations Executive offers an exciting opportunity to shape the national media agenda on infrastructure and help position the organisation as the voice of infrastructure to Government and other key political and industry stakeholders. The role also offers the opportunity to help raise awareness of civil engineering with the public.
Duties and responsibilities:
- To plan and lead long term strategic media campaigns in line with their Business Plan - utilising national, regional, trade and social media channels
- To identify reactive opportunities to push the organisation's messages, goals and enhance the organisations reputation
- To advise senior management on crisis handling, reputational risk and mitigation
- To develop relationships with key national and trade media
- To produce a range of high quality written material for media use including comment pieces, press releases, statements and letters
- To brief and advise their spokespeople ahead of media interviews
What are they looking for?
A forward thinking, creative media professional with 3 years' experience of working in a busy press office environment and the confidence to work with and brief senior staff and members on a day to day basis; a proven track record in delivering media relations strategies for report launches and long term campaigns; strong writing skills - including the ability to adapt for a range of publications/audiences and find the stories within complex or technical content. Some experience of working in a professional body (or similar organisation) would be desirable.
