FINTEC recruit is seeking a Senior Design Engineer for our leading client in the Pipeline sector. This position involves key relationship & communication with design draughtsmen, engineers, technicians, equipment operators and managers, and clients. The Senior Design Engineer role is a permanent position based in Aberdeenshire with a competitive salary which is negotiable based on experience.
Responsibilities:
Carry out various tasks associated with design, construction, and certification.
Responsible for leading a Design Team through various Oil & Gas projects for heavy marine equipment including Reel Drive Systems and Tensioners
Undertake structural analysis of existing equipment and structures
Making initial design calculations, product design, development and improvement, preparation of manufacture drawings
Managing the Design office & team, managing the daily running of the Design office ensuring resources are efficiently utilised to meet client / company requirements and schedules
Leading by example to ensure Design office personnel meet their full potential through coaching, mentoring, training and experience
Supervising equipment layout, fabrication and as build drawings
Ensuring highest standards of safety, full awareness of and compliance with the requirements of all company HSE procedures and policies
Conducting final checks on finished products
Requirements:
Able to create drawings and undertake manual calculations
Relevant qualification in design / mechanical engineering.
Experience / knowledge of 3D modelling in AutoDesk Inventor (version 2010)
Familiarity with beam bending & buckling, plate stress and weld calculations.
Preferred:
Experience of hydraulic handling equipment.
Chartered or working towards beneficial.
