Governance Manager Southwark, London

This is an exciting position joining an expanding team working within in the NHS.

The post holder will have a dual reporting responsibilities to the Director of Primary Care and the Director of Medical Services. The post holder oversees the Corporate Compliance Program, functioning as an independent and objective body that reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organisation. The position ensures the Board of Directors, management and employees are in compliance with the rules and regulations of regulatory agencies, that company policies and procedures are being followed, and that behaviour in the organisation meets the company's Standards of Conduct. This is an integrated governance and risk management role involving internal auditing and ensuring insurance compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Please note these responsibilities will either be fulfilled personally or by effective delegation, and many will involve planning with the Director of Primary Care and Director of Medical Services.
Establish internal ongoing review programme tool and measurement protocols to audit performance and compliance against key clinical quality criteria and associated standards. This may include:
o Evidence of adequate selection, screening, recruitment and induction of clinical personnel and support staff
o Evidence of adequate ongoing supervision, monitoring and performance management of clinical personnel
o Evidence of clinical auditing of all services in line with the mandatory contractual requirements for this function
o Evidence of clinical leaders systematically providing support, advice, and second opinions to the clinical workforce
o Evidence of significant events being recorded, acted upon, and communicated to the clinical and management team as set out in the organisation's Integrated Governance policy
o Ensure annual revalidation of relevant clinical qualifications, updates, and other mandatory employee screening requirements

o Evidence of the compliance with patient satisfaction surveys requirements, systematic review of survey outputs, and adjustment of services where practicable in response to patient feedback
Reporting findings of ongoing internal review programme to the line managers in a monthly report which will rate the performance of all services against compliance and quality metrics
Where significant risks are identified in the organisation's service delivery, the Governance Manager will raise the concern immediately with the line managers (and at the Governance Manager's discretion, with the service manager and / or the appropriate accountable officer), communicating the risk(s), and where possible, proposing remedial action to mitigate the risk(s)
Monitors industry and statutory regulatory requirements in relation to the organisation's services, communicating updated requirements to the Line Managers as necessary, and supporting the services in adapting to new requirements
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organisations.
Enhances compliance and organisation reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Works with the Human Resources Department and others as appropriate to develop an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and managers.
Collaborates with other departments (e.g. Local Clinical Leads and Management) to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution.
Act as an internal auditor in conjunction with the organisation's internal Care Quality Commission (CQC) audit program.
Champion storing of relevant governance reports, significant events, risk register etc. on the intranet and developing this software/process wherever possible
Liaison with Human Resources (HR) on pre-employment checks and insurance requirements.
