Salary: £28,922 - £31,160*

Newport City Council is looking to recruit two able and talented HR professionals to support our schools in delivering improved performance.  One post is offered on a full time, permanent basis and one will be a maternity cover fixed term for 9 months.

You will be a professionally qualified (or nearing completion) HR professionaland will work within the Education HR team providing advice and support to Head teachers, Governing Bodies, the Local Authority Education service and the Education Achievement Service which delivers a regional school improvement service.

You will be a generalist practitioner with experience of working as a business partner, have sound current working knowledge of employment legislation and employee relations best practice. You will also be able to influence senior management with confidence, and negotiate with a wide range of professional associations and trade unions.

Education HR services in Newport, Monmouthshire, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent and Caerphilly Councils work collaboratively to support HR and Education Directors, Headteachers, school improvement professionals and Chairs of Governing Bodies in progressing complex employment relation issues emanating from the “support and challenge” element of the Education Achievement Service.
