Forensic Technology & Discovery Services (FTDS)
IT Forensic Associate
The FTDS Cybercrime Investigations team is growing and looking for candidates who want to make a start or take the next step in their career in cyber-forensic technology. We cover a wide range of projects ranging from software licence forensics to general network intrusion investigations.
The role will involve activities throughout the entire life cycle of a forensic technology engagement, including the identification, preservation and collection of a variety of data sources including traditional sources such as laptops, desktops and Servers as well as more advanced collections such as network packet captures and custom applications.
Forensic analysis involving the use of several industry-standard tools as well, as our in-house bespoke software, to manipulating and transforming large structured and unstructured data sets. You should be comfortable regularly drawing upon a broad range of technical skills including working with computer hardware, operating forensic applications and programmatically manipulating data using SQL or an object-oriented programming language.
The candidate should demonstrate a passion for technology, awareness for current IT trends and a genuine desire to build a career in this field. There is significant opportunity for travelling on the job so the candidate should be willing to travel both on domestic and international assignments.
Essential Technical Skills:
- 2:1 or 1st Degree in Computer Sciences/Computer Forensics/Information Security (or equivalent)
- Solid understanding of operating systems (Windows and non-Windows) and computer networks, including TCP/IP.
- Practical experience in working with hardware components that make up a PC.
- Awareness of trends and developments in IT, in particular information security and cybercrime, threat intelligence etc.
- Strong independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts in a non-technical way
- Experience with industry-standard forensic applications and tools such as EnCase & FTK
