Job Purpose

An opportunity has become available in Visa Europe's Risk & Compliance division for a Technology Risk Lead. The role is responsible for assessing potential technological risks and implications for Visa Europe's new products and services, offered to our membership, by use of Technical Risk reviews formed of a mix of technical and business activities.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Performing technological risk assessments within a review framework for all new product and service proposals from a technological security and risk perspective
  • Ensuring products or services are fit for purpose, that risks are accounted for and mitigated appropriately, and that the new product or service will not cause any reputational damage for Visa Europe or its members.
  • Conducting research as directed by management or as required on topics that are pertinent to Visa Europe's product strategy
  • Maintaining awareness of key issues, latest developments, industry practice and governance around product and technological risk issues.
  • Fulfilling the role of subject matter expert on technology risk, ensuring key decision makers have access to the information they need and provide technical guidance both internally and externally as required
  • Liaison with business owners of products under review

Essential Criteria:

  • Good research, organizational and procedural development skills
  • Deep technical knowledge of technology and risk issues relating to card products and services of relevance to Visa Europe
  • Ability to dissect and analyse a proposition, constructively criticising it, evaluate separate but related documentation for clarity, consistency and correctness and constructively challenge what is proposed to ensure that processes are correctly described and robust, specifications are appropriate, implementation documentation is accurate and other associated collateral is in line with business and risk requirements.
  • Excellent reasoning, numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to present to and negotiate with internal stakeholders, members and external stakeholders at all levels
  • A business and technical appreciation of how pragmatic payment and/or security systems work or should work in terms of standards, best practices and guidelines which are used and respected by the relevant (payment and/or security) industries
  • Knowledge of EMV specifications and/or related products (VIS, VCPS, etc.) and/or mobile technologies and/or Internet communication and security technologies
  • Ability to work independently and cross functionally

Desirable Criteria:

  • Strong sense of commercial awareness and a sound understanding of business and/or technical risks and controls
  • Broad understanding of the Visa business and how different aspects of the business interact with one another
