Graduate Design Support Engineer

Our client is a multi-disciplinary research and development organization which prides itself on delivering innovative solutions within the organization and to other organizations across the electrical power transmission and distribution, power generation, rail transport and aerospace industries.

They are currently seeking a Graduate Design Support Engineer to join their team in Stafford.

Reporting to the Hardware and Firmware Manager, the candidate is expected to develop good working practices and positive relationships with all departments within the Stafford development and with the Systems R&D team abroad.

Main duties and responsibilities will include:

To provide support to the R&D design engineers involving:

• Build and test of prototypes
• Design and build of test assemblies
• Part creation & management in conjunction with PCB Engineers
• BOM & Datapack management
• General support to the product development process
• Schematic Capture & modification of schematics & PCBs (with PCB Engineer)

To provide production support for the BCU product line:

• First line contact for production line issues
• Investigation of production issues (supported by design engineers)
• Investigation of customer complaints (supported by design engineers)
• Update of manufacturing information
• Production of reports on work done for feedback to customers

Required Skills:

• Analogue and digital design experience
• PCB assembly and modification
• CPLD/FPGA design
• PCB layout - Mentor Graphics preferred

• Degree Educated in a relevant subject
• Willing to operate in a cross-functional environment
• Able to produce good quality reports on work done for distribution to customers and management.
• Focus on design quality and verification of performance
