AWARD WINNING AGENCY MediLink Consulting are currently recruiting on behalf of a Large NHS Trust in Manchester for a SHO in T&O
Hourly Rate: GBP35 - GBP50
Contact: Ryan Dalrymple
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 4 MONTHS
Location: Manchester
Job Title: SHO T&O
Hours: 48 hours per week

Duties:

The SHOs will be involved with looking after trauma admissions and orthopaedic admissions, trauma admissions will only come in when they are on call, the orthopaedic admissions will come into their ward prior to theatre sessions.

On a Monday evening there is an orthopaedic teaching session from 5.30 - 7pm run by the orthopaedic surgeons and each morning from Monday through to Friday at 8am there is a trauma teaching session run by the on-take orthopaedic consultant. SHOs are encouraged to come to theatre and for the routine elective orthopaedic lists but their priority is to the wards. When in theatre the SHOs will be taught to do simple orthopaedic manipulations and simple orthopaedic operations. The SHOs are encouraged to come and sit in the various orthopaedic and fracture clinics that are run through the week but they have no formal commitment to attend these.

The Junior Doctor accepts that he/she will also perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate Consultant, in consultation, where practicable, with his colleagues both senior and junior.

Requirements:

The Doctor appointed will be responsible for the care of patients admitted under the relevant Consultants. In addition, he/she will be available to give, and expected to perform, additional duties outside the job description in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances, at the request of the Consultant. It has been agreed between the professions and the Department of Health that while Juniors accept that they will perform such duties, the Secretary of State stresses that additional commitments arising under this sub-section are exceptional and, in particular, that Juniors should not be required to undertake work of this kind for prolonged periods or on a regular basis.
