Brixton is a district of South London within the London Borough of Lambeth. The area is identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London. Brixton is mainly residential with a prominent street market and substantial retail sector. It lies within Inner South London and is boredered by Stockwell, Clapham, Streatham, Camberwell, Tulse Hill and Herne Hill. Southeastern operate trains through Brixton railway station between London and Orpington. Brixton sits on several main roads, the A23 London to Brighton road runs North - South through the area. There is also the A203 which links to Vauxhall bridge along with the A204 and A2217. It is also the main meeting point for many London bus routes.
