CALLING ALL INSTALLATION ENGINEERS!!

Due to continued growth, my Cambridgeshire based client, a specialist provider of IT security solutions, is currently looking for an experienced Installation Engineer with good networking skills to join their friendly team.

This role will principally be to perform onsite installations, health-checks and upgrades for the company’s product/service portfolio and will include UK travel (sometimes extensive with overnight stays).

The job will also entail:

  • Attending sales meetings with Sales Account Managers and customers in an advisory capacity
  • Performing product demonstration to customers
  • Presenting at seminars
  • Creating scoping documents for large project installations
  • Assisting sales with creating tender documents

Due to the travelling requirements of this role, candidates must have a driving licence and their own transport.

Job Purpose

There are 5 main roles for the Installation Engineer:

  1. Providing pre-sales technical expertise
  2. Onsite technical consultancy with regard to product installation, health-checks and services assigned to the role
  3. Providing handover documentation to Support
  4. Providing post-sales technical support
  5. Personal Development

1. PRE-SALES TECHNICAL ADVICE

  • Provide pre-sale technical advice to end users and company sales teams
  • Provide technical input to sales proposals
  • Provide remote product demonstrations to customers (webex)
  • Provide technical support at customer meetings, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, etc.

2. ONSITE TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

  • Provide onsite technical services to install, train and configure products for an end user
  • Provide technical consultancy and services to customers that fall under the company’s portfolio

3. PROVIDING HANDOVER DOCUMENTATION TO SUPPORT

  • Provide Support with an update (phone call) outlining how the technical day went and any outstanding items from that day/s (excludes training, sales visits)
  • Within one week, provide a site visit report to support for the technical day/s (excludes training, sales visits)

4. PROVIDING POST-SALES TECHNICAL SUPPORT

• Respond to post-sale customer issues by liaising with vendor/distributor Technical Support teams, ensuring the issue is resolved or closed to customer satisfaction and using the call logging system

5. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

• To take responsibility for your personal development and to keep up with current relevant issues relating to your job, department and the company overall

Essential Skills:

  • Network experience (installation, support, troubleshooting, management, training)
  • Firewalls
  • Routing
  • Active Directory
  • DHCP
  • DNS
  • Windows server 2000, 2003, 2008
  • MS Exchange
  • Proxy Servers
  • Excellent customer facing skills
  • Ability to travel throughout the UK (travel requirements vary, but can at times be extensive)

Any experience with Cisco Networks (CCNA desirable but not essential), IT security, managed services and on-site consultancy would be beneficial and advantageous.
